Leo Faber

Founder of BADFAITH BADFAITH website

Hi I’m Leo Faber. I’m an executive producer with 20 years experience as a producer, director and writer in the television and film industries. After first trying VR with JP Marin (SBS head of digital) I was hooked. In 2015 I started making VR content with Pixelcase VR, producing and directing numerous VR experiences for brands such as Intel, Audi, Facebook, Samsung, Jaguar and Semi-Permanent.

In 2016, I recognised a need for a more creative approach to the medium so I reached out to my favourite artist, internationally renowned video artist Shaun Gladwell. I popped his VR cherry, took his VRginity…and a rad bromance blossomed. After making our first work together (Reverse Readymade) we founded BADFAITH, a content collective of filmmakers, artists and all round creative punks dedicated to slicing and dicing the new immersive medium.

We have had some wins…Shaun Gladwell's ORBITAL VANITAS, premiered as part of official selection at Sundance 2017 and was acquired by The New York Times for their NYTVR app.  It is also showing at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2017. Oh and we just curated the 2017 Sydney Film Festival VR program choosing 13 works from all over the world that we love.

Our latest project is a VR documentary, we recently secured the first ever Screen Australia production finance for a VR documentary  - Storm Rider – which was commissioned by SBS for their VR app.

Prior to drinking the VR ‘Kool-Aid’ Leo had many years experience in the development and production of factual television and has created hundreds of hours of programming for both Australian and international broadcasters such as the BBC, National Geographic, Discovery, Channel 4 and ITV.
